Nedbank has been very intentional about aligning is sustainability activities with the Sustainability Development Goals, particularly through the preservation of the country’s natural resources. The Bank identified areas in the community that have struggled with water and sanitation and drilled boreholes to ease the burden of water shortages in mining towns such as Zvishavane and Gweru. This is aligned to Sustainability Development Goal 6 which speaks to clean water and sanitation.
The Bank embarked on a tree planting initiative which began in 2021. In 2022, the Bank planted 2700 trees countrywide in partnership with schools, orphanages, hospitals and likeminded organisations such as the Forestry Commission, Nature Horizons and My Trees Trust. This initiative is in line with Sustainability Development Goal 13 which speaks to Climate Change.
